Brandon Joseph Brewer obituary: Edwardsville High School Student Died at 14

Edwardsville, IL – Brandon Joseph Brewer, a bright and spirited teenager known for his humor, warmth, and unforgettable presence, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025, in Edwardsville. He was 14 years old.

Born on July 16, 2010, in Alton, Illinois, Brandon was the cherished son of Brian and Brandi (Maupin) Brewer. He was preparing to begin his sophomore year at Edwardsville High School, where he was known for his quick wit, creative energy, and ability to turn ordinary moments into lasting memories.

Brandon lived life in bold color. Whether he was cracking jokes, pulling harmless pranks, or lighting up a room with his grin, he had a natural ability to make people feel seen and included. His playful charm and fearless curiosity made him beloved by classmates, teachers, family, and friends alike.

He is survived by his loving parents, Brian and Brandi Brewer of Edwardsville; his sister, Makenzie Foiles; and his brother, Riley Brewer. Also mourning his loss are his maternal grandmother, Valerie Maupin of Alton; his paternal grandfather, Larry Brewer of Booneville, Kentucky; and his maternal great-grandmother, Connie Frenz of Jerseyville. He also leaves behind a dear friend, Kelsey Englar of Edwardsville, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were touched by his spirit.

Brandon was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joe Maupin, and his paternal grandparents, Tim and June Marshall.

In every space he entered, Brandon brought light. His memory will be carried not only in the hearts of those closest to him but also in the stories, laughter, and spontaneous joy he sparked in others. Those who knew him remember his ability to lift spirits and forge connections—often without trying.

As the community grieves this heartbreaking loss, loved ones are choosing to celebrate the full, joyful life Brandon lived in just 14 years. “We remember him not in sadness, but with gratitude,” his family shared. “For every smile, every prank, every spontaneous moment he created. May we honor his memory by living as fully, as loudly, and as joyfully as he did.”

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Danny Michel.
