Kobe Coogle obituary Mt. Washington KY, Bullitt East High School Student Passes Away at 15

Kobe Jordan Coogle 15, of Mt. Washington Bullitt East Sophomore and Outdoor Enthusiast

MT. WASHINGTON, KY — Kobe Jordan Coogle, a beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at just 15 years old. Born on November 1, 2009, in Louisville, Kentucky, Kobe lived a life filled with energy, kindness, and quiet strength—qualities that left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A sophomore at Bullitt East High School, Kobe was known among teachers and classmates as respectful, thoughtful, and quick to help others. He had a passion for life that revealed itself in everything he did—from early mornings on the lake fishing and kayaking to weekends riding his motorcycle with fearless joy. Whether navigating the trails or teaming up in competitive airsoft, Kobe embraced adventure with a bright, determined spirit.

Kobe had a deep love for basketball, inspired partly by the namesake of his first name, Kobe Bryant. Like the basketball legend, Kobe Coogle carried himself with quiet determination and fierce loyalty to those closest to him. He was just as competitive on the court and in online gaming as he was compassionate at home.

Family was the center of Kobe’s world. As a devoted big brother to Ryan and Taylor, he was protective, funny, and always close by when they needed guidance or comfort. He carried the memory of his late mother, Shelby Russell Coogle, in everything he did, honoring her legacy with how he treated others—gently, respectfully, and with heart.

He was the kind of grandson every grandparent hopes for: ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, or simply sit in good company. His presence—often marked by a sly grin or quick joke—brought warmth into any room, and his absence is deeply felt.

Kobe is survived by his loving parents, Eugene and Jenny Coogle; his brother, Ryan Coogle; and his sister, Taylor Coogle. He also leaves behind his grandparents, Johnny and Diane Russell, Penny Coogle, and Harry and Celeste Beam; as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who cherished him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Shelby Russell Coogle, and his grandfather, Eugene Coogle.

Funeral services for Kobe will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025, at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Friends and loved ones are invited to visit from 10 a.m. until the time of service to pay their respects.

Though his time on earth was far too short, Kobe Coogle’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched—with laughter, loyalty, and love. His memory is a light that will continue to guide those who knew him, especially his siblings and family who will carry his spirit forward.
