Son of Former Victoria Police Officer Shot Dead in Suspected Gang-Related Execution in Wollert

Athan Boursinos Wollert, VIC Obituary and Cause Of Death — A 21-year-old man, identified as Athan Boursinos, was fatally shot in what police believe was a targeted execution-style attack in a quiet laneway behind Champions Parade on Thursday morning.

According to Victoria Police, Boursinos — the son of a former Victoria Police officer — was gunned down around 9 a.m. while getting into his car. Nearby residents reported hearing eight gunshots, 7NEWS understands.

Emergency services arrived quickly, but Boursinos died at the scene.

Victim Linked to Ongoing Gang Investigations

Authorities have confirmed that Boursinos was on his way to court at the time of the shooting. While details remain under investigation, 7NEWS sources indicate that he had previously been a person of interest in the aftermath of the 2022 shooting of Sam Abdulrahim, a high-profile figure in Melbourne’s underworld scene.

Boursinos was also believed to have gang affiliations, according to law enforcement sources, although no official charges had been laid against him in connection with Abdulrahim’s case.

Suspect Fled; Burnt-Out Car Found

The suspected shooter fled the scene in a vehicle. Not long after, investigators located a burnt-out car on Army Street in Reservoir, roughly 20 minutes from the shooting scene. Police are working to determine if the vehicle is directly connected to the attack.

“Detectives believe the shooting was a targeted attack,” Victoria Police confirmed in a statement.

Investigation Ongoing; Public Urged to Assist

The killing is being treated as part of a wider investigation into Melbourne’s ongoing gang and underworld violence, which has seen a rise in tit-for-tat incidents in recent years. No arrests have been made, and the gunman remains at large.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with dashcam or CCTV footage from the area to come forward.

A Community on Edge

The incident has rattled residents in Wollert, a normally quiet northern suburb of Melbourne. Locals described the scene as chaotic and terrifying, with one witness telling reporters, “I heard the shots and didn’t know what was happening. It’s shocking something like this happened right on our doorstep.”
