Sebastian Zar: Great Neck Mourns the Loss of a Rising Lawyer at 35

Great Neck, New York — The tight-knit community of Great Neck is mourning the loss of Sebastian Zar, a respected entertainment lawyer and cherished member of the local Mashadi Jewish community. He passed away at 35, leaving behind a legacy defined by kindness, integrity, and professional excellence.

The United Mashadi Jewish Community of America (UMJCA) Levaya Committee confirmed his passing earlier this week, referring to him by his Hebrew name, Eliyahou Moshe Ben Avraham z”l. His funeral service took place at New Montefiore Cemetery in West Babylon, where family, friends, and colleagues gathered to remember a man whose short life had an outsized impact.

Zar was the beloved son of Fariba and Mehrdad Zar and brother to James Zar and Kimberly Bloorian (Zar). The Zar family began receiving visitors at Shaare Shalom Synagogue on Thursday evening, welcoming mourners who came to share their condolences and memories.

From Humble Beginnings to Legal Excellence

Professionally, Sebastian Zar made a name for himself as one of the most talented young lawyers in the entertainment world. Known for his relentless dedication to fairness and his genuine care for the artists he represented, Zar stood out in an industry often criticized for its lack of transparency.

A heartfelt tribute posted on social media by one of his longtime clients captured the essence of who he was — a man who combined talent with loyalty:

“You fought tooth and nail to protect me and make sure I was treated fairly. When I had no one to trust, you believed in me. You worked for me for years for free when you were just starting out — and then I watched you become one of the best in the business.”

Zar’s career flourished as he rose to represent high-profile artists, including Post Malone, and earned a place on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list. Yet, those close to him say he never let success change him.

“No matter how far he went, he never stopped showing up with humility, kindness, and heart,” the post continued. “He reminded me that good people still exist in this business.”

A Man of Faith, Family, and Community

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Zar was deeply rooted in his Mashadi Jewish heritage and active within the Great Neck community. Friends recall that he never hesitated to give back — whether through mentorship, pro bono work, or simply offering words of encouragement to those finding their way.

In an official community statement, the UMJCA Levaya Committee expressed condolences, writing, “May the family be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Yerushalayim.”

Community members describe him as a man of quiet strength and unwavering integrity — someone whose success was matched only by his compassion.

“Sebastian represented the best of us,” said one colleague. “He built his career on honesty and trust — two things rare and precious in any field.”

A Legacy That Lives Beyond His Years

As tributes continue to flow from both coasts of the entertainment world, the sense of loss is profound. Zar’s colleagues remember him as a trusted voice in an unpredictable industry; his friends remember him as someone who listened deeply and gave freely; his family remembers him as a devoted son and brother.

Though his life was cut short, Sebastian Zar’s impact endures — through the artists he championed, the clients he protected, and the community he uplifted with his kindness.

In a world often driven by ambition, Zar’s story stands out as a reminder that success means little without integrity and heart.

May his memory be a blessing.
