Edwards, Colorado — The Vail Valley is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of Adam Gilmer, a respected architect, beloved husband, and devoted father, who died following a bicycle accident earlier this week. He was a past Vail Board of Realtors (VBR) affiliate member and a cherished part of the local professional and personal community.
Adam is survived by his wife, Krissy, their son, AJ, and their dog, Bruce. Known for his talent, integrity, and kindness, Adam was not only an exceptional architect but also a man who brought warmth and intention to everything he built—especially his family life.
Adam had a gift for creating thoughtful, lasting spaces, but those closest to him say his greatest achievement was the life he built with Krissy and AJ. He was the dad who never missed a soccer game, the friend always ready for an early tee time, and the partner who filled every day with laughter, support, and love.
A Celebration of Life for Adam Gilmer will be held on Friday, June 28, at the Singletree Community Center, where friends, family, and colleagues will gather to honor his memory and the legacy he leaves behind.
In the wake of his passing, a donation fund has been established to support AJ’s education—a cause deeply important to Adam. The fund reflects not only his dreams for his son’s future but also offers a way for the community to show enduring support to Krissy and AJ during this time of unimaginable loss.
If Adam touched your life—through his architecture, friendship, mentorship, or his quiet acts of generosity—friends and family encourage you to consider donating or sharing the fund. Each contribution is a tribute to the man who gave so much of himself to those around him.
Adam Gilmer’s loss is felt deeply across the Vail community, the architecture field, and beyond. His legacy of compassion, dedication, and beautiful design will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May he rest in peace.
