Deadly Crash on DN67 in Vâlcea Claims Three Young Lives

A violent head-on collision on DN67 in Mihăești, Vâlcea County, Romania, killed three people and injured two others in the early hours of 12 October 2026.

According to Vâlcea County Police, a 25-year-old driver from Râmnicu Vâlcea lost control of his car while entering a curve at excessive speed. The vehicle crossed into the opposite lane and struck another car driven by a 67-year-old man from Orlești.

The 25-year-old driver and his two 17-year-old female passengers—from Ocnele Mari and Roești—died at the scene. The older driver and his 61-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital.

Emergency crews, including firefighters, police and medical teams, responded promptly. Three victims were trapped in the wreckage; rescuers freed two who were still conscious. Investigations continue to determine the exact circumstances. Alcohol testing on the injured older driver was not possible due to his condition; biological samples were collected.

Authorities urge drivers to adapt speed to road conditions, especially on winding national roads. This tragedy underscores the ongoing risks of speed-related accidents in Romania.
