Maine – Golden State Warriors center Kristaps Porziņģis remains sidelined indefinitely as the team awaits clarity on an undisclosed health issue ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season.
The 31-year-old Latvian international missed the Warriors’ media day and the start of training camp, raising questions about his availability for the season opener. According to The Associated Press, general manager Mike Dunleavy said the team had no clear timeline for his return but remained hopeful he would rejoin the squad soon.
Coach Steve Kerr has also expressed surprise at the development, while confirming that the team would continue preparations as it monitors Porziņģis’ situation. The Warriors have not publicly disclosed the nature of his current health issue.
Porziņģis joined Golden State from the Atlanta Hawks in February 2026 and appeared in 15 games for the Warriors, averaging 16.7 points and 5.2 rebounds, according to AP figures. His size, shooting range and rim protection make him a valuable option when available.
Golden State agreed to a two-year, $40 million deal with the center in June. His recovery and return timeline could influence the team’s frontcourt rotation as the new season approaches.
For now, the Warriors have offered no confirmed date for his return, leaving his status one of the team’s key questions before opening night.
