Police have investigated reports of gunfire in Wollert, a growing suburb in Melbourne’s outer north, after shots were fired at a vehicle carrying three men in August. The incident raised fresh concerns about firearm-related crime in the area, although authorities reported that the occupants escaped physical injury.
According to a report published by the Northern Star Weekly, the incident occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday, August 9, 2026. A white sport utility vehicle was reportedly parked on Garrong Avenue with three male occupants when a red sedan approached and several shots were fired.
The red sedan allegedly left the scene after the gunfire. The three men, all reportedly in their 20s, left the vehicle and sought assistance nearby.
No physical injuries were reported among the occupants, according to the local news report. At the time of publication, police had made no arrests, and the occupants of the red sedan remained outstanding.
Investigators appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident or had relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward. Members of the public with information were encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers Victoria.
Earlier Fatal Shooting Remains a Separate Investigation
The August incident followed a fatal shooting in Wollert in July 2025, when 21-year-old Athan Boursinos was shot in a laneway behind a residential property near Champions Parade.
Emergency services were called shortly before 9 a.m. on July 31, 2025. Boursinos was declared dead at the scene.
Victoria Police subsequently investigated the killing as a suspected targeted attack. Investigators later said they believed the shooting involved men connected to an interstate organised crime group.
In August 2026, police released CCTV footage showing a vehicle allegedly connected to the homicide being set alight after the shooting. Detectives appealed for information to help identify those involved and clarify the circumstances of the killing.
The two incidents occurred in the same suburb at different times and should be treated as separate investigations unless police establish a connection.
Community Safety and the Ongoing Investigation
Reports of gunfire can unsettle residents, particularly in residential neighbourhoods where families and children live. Police investigations rely on witness accounts, forensic evidence and available surveillance footage to establish what happened and identify those responsible.
As of October 15, 2026, the available reporting reviewed for this article does not establish whether arrests have been made in connection with the August incident.
Residents with relevant information should contact Victoria Police or Crime Stoppers Victoria through official channels. Further developments should be confirmed through police statements and reliable local reporting.
This report will be updated when verified information becomes available.
