Park Ridge Crosswalk Collision: David Jutovsky, 55, Northbrook Man Identified as Victim

Park Ridge police have identified the pedestrian struck and killed in a busy suburban intersection Friday morning as 55-year-old David Jutovsky of Northbrook, a loss that has stirred concern about traffic safety along one of the area’s most heavily traveled corridors.

According to police, the collision occurred around 10:09 a.m. when a driver turning east onto Dempster Street from southbound Potter Road hit Jutovsky as he crossed the intersection. The driver remained at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators, authorities said.

The crash prompted the temporary shutdown of eastbound Dempster and northbound Potter, disrupting late-morning traffic and drawing a significant emergency response. In a public advisory, police urged motorists to avoid the area, underscoring the severity of the incident.

Local residents say the intersection, which serves as a key link between Park Ridge and several neighboring suburbs, has long been a challenging crossing for pedestrians. “Drivers are often focused on making the turn, not on who’s in the crosswalk,” said one nearby shop owner, reflecting broader community concern.

The investigation remains ongoing, and officials have not announced whether citations or charges are expected. For now, neighbors are mourning Jutovsky and calling for renewed attention to pedestrian safety in the region.
