Kelley Mack, Known for ‘The Walking Dead’ and Independent Film Work, Dies at 33
CINCINNATI, OH — Kelley Mack, a rising star known for her role as Addy in AMC’s The Walking Dead, passed away on Saturday, August 1, in her hometown of Cincinnati following a private battle with glioma, a rare form of brain cancer. She was 33.
Mack’s passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes from colleagues and fans alike, honoring her artistic talent, quiet determination, and creative legacy. Though widely recognized for her appearances on hit series such as 9-1-1, Chicago Med, and Schooled, Mack’s influence extended beyond the screen.
From 2018 to 2019, she portrayed Addy, a resilient survivor in The Walking Dead’s Hilltop Colony. Her performance left a lasting impression on the show’s vast fanbase. “She brought a quiet strength to every scene,” said one fan in a tribute thread on social media. “Addy was unforgettable because Kelley was unforgettable.”
Mack also left her mark in film, with credits in Broadcast Signal Intrusion, Delicate Arch, Shot in the Dark, and the upcoming Universal — a project she both starred in and executive produced. In addition to acting, she took on writing and producing roles in short films such as A Knock at the Door, The Perfect One, and Positive.
“She was a rare multi-talent — driven, imaginative, and deeply generous with her collaborators,” said one Los Angeles-based producer who worked with Mack on multiple projects. “Her voice as a creator was just beginning to shine.”
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Mack maintained close ties to her roots even as she pursued a national career. Her family confirmed her passing and shared plans for a memorial service in Glendale, Ohio on August 16. A celebration of life will also be held in Los Angeles for her industry friends and collaborators.
