Shooting at NFL Headquarters Building in Midtown Manhattan Leaves Several Injured
A shooting at a prominent office building in Midtown Manhattan—home to the National Football League’s headquarters—left multiple people injured Monday evening, prompting a swift lockdown and heavy law enforcement response.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams confirmed from the scene that the suspected shooter had been “neutralized” by police. Authorities quickly secured the building, located at 345 Park Avenue, and advised all occupants to shelter in place as the NYPD conducted a floor-by-floor search.
The building, which houses the NFL’s corporate offices on floors five through eight, also includes other high-profile tenants such as the Blackstone Group. According to real estate records, the property is owned and managed by Rudin Management.
Mayor Adams stated that he would be visiting victims at the hospital and praised the rapid intervention of emergency responders. “The NYPD and our federal partners are working together to ensure the area is safe and to support those affected,” he said in a public statement.
Around 7:52 p.m. ET, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed via social media that the situation had been contained and that the shooter acted alone. The FBI also deployed personnel to assist at the scene, indicating the seriousness of the incident.
As of late Monday night, the exact number of victims and the shooter’s identity or motive had not been officially released. USA TODAY Sports and other media outlets reached out to the NFL for comment, but no statement had been issued.
The NYPD advised the public to avoid the vicinity of East 52nd Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue due to ongoing police operations. Streets remained closed for several hours as investigators worked to secure the building and collect evidence.
This incident comes amid growing concerns over workplace violence, even in highly secured urban office towers. The building was known for having strong access control, but officials note that no security system is infallible when faced with a determined attacker.
