NYPD Officer Didarul Islam Killed in Midtown Mass Shooting That Leaves Four Dead – Office Tower Attack

Midtown Manhattan Shooting Claims Four Lives, Including NYPD Officer Didarul Islam

A tragic shooting in Midtown Manhattan on Monday has left four people dead and one person critically injured, according to New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch. The incident occurred inside the office tower at 345 Park Avenue and prompted a swift and massive response from law enforcement.

The lone surviving gunshot victim, currently in critical but stable condition, is being treated at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Four additional individuals sustained minor injuries while attempting to flee the scene and are also receiving medical care.

Among those killed was 36-year-old NYPD officer Didarul Islam, an immigrant from Bangladesh and a father of two. Commissioner Tisch shared that Islam’s wife is currently expecting their third child. He was working at the building in a private security role at the time of the attack.

Two other victims—a man and a woman—were transported to Bellevue Hospital but did not survive. A fourth victim, a woman, was found deceased on the 33rd floor of the high-rise, which houses the National Football League’s headquarters and other corporate offices.

While the identities of the civilian victims have not been publicly released, police confirmed that their families are being contacted.

“This was a targeted and tragic act of violence,” Tisch stated during a Monday evening press conference. She also noted the bravery of responding officers and first responders who arrived within minutes of the initial 911 call.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation, and officials have not yet confirmed any connection between the victims and the alleged shooter. Authorities believe the attacker acted alone.

The incident has shaken the Midtown community and reignited broader concerns over security in high-rise office buildings, particularly in areas considered to be secure and heavily policed.

Law enforcement continues to examine surveillance footage and interview witnesses as they work to piece together the sequence of events.

More updates are expected as the investigation continues and victim families are formally notified.
