A Life Defined by Strength and Generosity
The Webster community is mourning the loss of Amanda Jean Caruso, who passed away on September 9, 2025, at just 28 years old. Known for her radiant personality, resilience, and devotion to others, Amanda’s journey touched countless lives both locally and online.
Born with a rare lung disease, Amanda underwent her first double lung transplant as an infant—an extraordinary gift that allowed her to live a vibrant childhood and pursue her dreams. In adulthood, as her health again declined, she faced challenges with remarkable courage, culminating in her decision to undergo a second lung transplant earlier this month.
“She lived every day with courage and joy,” one family friend said. “Amanda didn’t just survive—she thrived, and she inspired others to do the same.”
Achievements in Work and Life
Despite significant health struggles, Amanda’s achievements were many. A graduate of Webster Thomas High School (2014), she went on to earn her esthetics license from the Continental School of Beauty, an associate’s degree in Health Information Technology from MCC, and certification as an Oncology Data Specialist.
Her professional career included roles at Hand and Stone Spa, Unity Hospital, and most recently, Rochester Regional Health, where she contributed to the Cancer Tumor Registry. She also pursued entrepreneurship, founding her own jewelry business, Tiny Woman Creations, which flourished until she was placed on the transplant list in 2024.
On social media, Amanda built a following by sharing her health journey with authenticity and positivity. Her openness about living with chronic illness and awaiting transplantation brought hope and awareness to thousands, while also spotlighting the critical importance of organ donation.
A Beloved Daughter, Sister, and Fiancée
Amanda leaves behind her parents, Janice Roback Caruso and Steven Caruso, siblings Karli, Leeanna, and Trevor, her fiancé and “true love” Matthew Henning, future in-laws, her grandmother, and a wide extended family. She is remembered not only as a dedicated daughter and sister, but also as a caring colleague, a supportive friend, and a joyful presence in every room.
“She was a source of light,” a co-worker shared. “Even when her health was failing, Amanda lifted others up.”
Honoring Amanda’s Legacy
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 13, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Falvo Funeral Home, Webster, NY. In her memory, the family encourages donations to Donate Life America and urges community members to consider becoming organ donors—a cause Amanda passionately championed.
Her story is a reminder of the transformative power of organ donation and the resilience of the human spirit. Though her life was far too short, Amanda leaves behind a legacy of joy, love, and advocacy that will endure.
