Calgary Community Grieves Loss of Arjun Singh Gill After Motorcycle Crash
According to police reports, the crash occurred at the intersection of 16 Avenue and 10 Street NW, directly in front of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but Gill could not be saved.
Arjun, known for his dedication to wrestling and sports, was seen as a promising young athlete within Calgary’s South Asian community. Friends and supporters remembered him not only for his athletic talent but also for his warmth and generosity.
“It requires real courage to even write about this,” one close family friend shared in a Facebook post. “Prabh bhaaji and his family need all our prayers as they cope with this unimaginable loss.”
Community leader Tejinder Singh expressed similar grief, writing: “My heart aches for Prabh veera and his family on the tragic loss of their beloved son. May Arjun’s soul rest in peace, and may the family find strength in the memories they shared.”
A Loss Felt Across Calgary
The Gill family is well known in Calgary, both politically and socially. Prabh Gill served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Calgary-Greenway from 2016 to 2019. The news of his son’s passing has prompted widespread condolences from political figures, community organizations, and local residents.
Motorcycle collisions remain a serious safety concern in Alberta. Data from Alberta Transportation shows that younger riders, particularly men under 25, are disproportionately represented in fatal crashes. Road safety advocates stress the importance of awareness campaigns and protective measures, especially during the summer riding season.
