Brian Landry: Derry, NH Police Department Mourns Senior Master Patrol Officer

The town of Derry, New Hampshire, is mourning the loss of Senior Master Patrol Officer Brian Landry, a beloved member of the Derry Police Department and former school resource officer at Pinkerton Academy, who passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 47.

Landry, who retired earlier this year on June 30, 2025, served the Derry community with unwavering dedication for over 23 years, earning a reputation not only as a respected law enforcement officer but also as a compassionate mentor to countless students and colleagues.

Derry Police Chief George Feole announced Landry’s passing in a heartfelt message to the community:

“It is with deep sorrow that I share the news of Senior Master Patrol Officer Brian Landry’s passing. He served with honor, dedication, and unwavering commitment to our agency and our community. His passion as a School Resource Officer at both the middle school level and Pinkerton Academy is unmatched. We honor his life and legacy of service.”

Landry’s career with the Derry Police Department began in December 2001, and over the decades, he became a cornerstone of the department’s youth outreach efforts. He served as a school resource officer at Hood Middle School, West Running Brook Middle School, and later at Pinkerton Academy, where he became a trusted figure among students and faculty alike.

Former students fondly recall his approachable nature — whether chatting in the lunchroom, organizing games of volleyball or ping-pong, or coaching the Unified Basketball Team. His presence in the halls brought a sense of comfort and safety. One former Pinkerton student described him as “a truly good man who cared deeply about students and always wanted to see them become the best version of themselves.”

Beyond his uniform, Landry was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Courtney, and their two sons, Tyson and Jake, who were his pride and joy. Friends remember how he cherished watching his boys play sports, fishing trips, trivia nights, and weekends at the family’s lake house. “Brian found happiness in the simplest moments with his family,” said a close friend. “He had this contagious joy and strength that lifted everyone around him.”

Landry’s passing has united Derry and neighboring towns in grief. Fellow officers, students, and parents have shared messages of condolence online, reflecting on his compassion and integrity. “This is an immense loss to Pinkerton and the community at large,” wrote Anthony Henry, a former student. “Officer Landry treated all students with fairness and respect while maintaining the highest standards of justice.”

In recognition of his battle with cancer, the family has requested that donations be made to the New Hampshire Law Enforcement Cancer and Charitable Foundation (NHLECCF), an organization that supported Landry and his loved ones throughout his illness. Contributions can be made via Venmo or PayPal @NHLECCF or through the foundation’s website at nhleccf.com.

A Police Walkthrough will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, during calling hours from 2:00–6:00 p.m. at Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. Additional parking will be available at St. Matthew’s Parish, 2 Searles Road.

Landry’s legacy extends far beyond his badge. In an era where community policing and mentorship are vital, his example serves as a model of empathy, consistency, and courage. Through his work, he bridged the gap between law enforcement and education, embodying the principle that public service is rooted in human connection.

As Chief Feole reflected, “Brian Landry was more than a police officer — he was a mentor, a friend, and a man who made Derry a better place.”

While the department, his students, and his family mourn his loss, Officer Brian Landry’s spirit of service and compassion will remain etched in the heart of Derry — a lasting reminder that one life, lived with purpose, can strengthen an entire community.
