Colin Fitzgibbons, Hunt Realty President Dies at 46: North Texas Mourns Influential Real Estate Leader

Colin Fitzgibbons, a respected North Texas real estate executive known for shaping some of the region’s most recognizable mixed-use developments, has died at 46. His passing was confirmed in a Facebook announcement shared widely among industry colleagues and civic leaders. The cause of death has not been released.

Fitzgibbons served as president of Hunt Realty Investments LLC, where he helped guide one of Dallas’ most influential real estate portfolios. Before joining Hunt in 2020, he held leadership roles at KDC, contributing to two high-profile, multibillion-dollar projects—CityLine in Richardson and Legacy West in Plano—both considered transformative developments that helped define the region’s modern corporate and residential growth.

“Colin had a rare blend of strategic vision and personal humility,” said a representative familiar with his work, noting that Fitzgibbons was widely regarded as a “connector” who built trust across an often-competitive industry.

His career began at The Staubach Co. in New York, where he worked as a tenant-rep broker before transitioning into large-scale development. Colleagues often pointed to his early experience as a reporter at The Washington Post as evidence of his curiosity and communication skills—traits that shaped his leadership style in later years.

Outside his corporate roles, Fitzgibbons was deeply involved in Dallas civic life. He served on the boards of Downtown Dallas Inc. and The Real Estate Council, and was a member of the advisory board for SMU’s Robert and Margaret Folsom Institute for Real Estate.

Community reactions were immediate, with many industry members describing his death as a profound loss for both Dallas business and philanthropy. “He didn’t just build projects—he invested in people,” one colleague wrote online.

As North Texas continues its rapid growth, Fitzgibbons’ influence remains visible in the skylines and communities he helped shape.
