Dedham, MA — A 20-year-old man from Brockton was killed and another man injured in a shooting early Wednesday morning, June 25, in the parking lot of BJ’s Wholesale Club in Dedham, authorities confirmed.
Dedham police responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 3:30 a.m., where they discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital.
Jaylani Cole, 20, of Brockton, was later pronounced dead. The second victim, also 20 years old, remains hospitalized but is expected to survive, officials said.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear. As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrests have been made, and police have not released information on any suspects.
The incident remains under active investigation. Police cruisers remained at the scene throughout the morning, with the BJ’s parking lot on Route 1 cordoned off as investigators gathered evidence.
