Pittsburgh, PA — The North Hills community is mourning the loss of Addalena “Addie” Maiette, a recent graduate of North Hills High School, who tragically died in a multi-vehicle crash in West View on Thursday, September 25, 2025. She was 19 years old.
A Life of Promise
Addie, known for her determination and kindhearted nature, was a 2025 graduate of North Hills High School, where she played on the girls’ soccer team. Beyond athletics, she pursued a passion for skilled trades, studying carpentry at A.W. Beattie Career Center. Her teachers and peers admired her focus and drive, particularly as she prepared to begin her career with West Shore Home.
“She had such ambition and talent. You could see she was ready to take on the world,” a Beattie staff member shared.
The Crash
Authorities reported the accident occurred at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Cornell Avenue in West View, involving three vehicles. The crash caused extensive damage and a temporary power outage in the area. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified Addie as the victim.
A Community in Mourning
The news of her passing sent ripples through the North Hills School District, which released a statement offering condolences:
“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to Addie’s family, friends, and everyone whose lives she touched. Counselors are available at North Hills High School to support students during this difficult time.”
Neighbors and friends echoed the grief. “We all feel a loss for this family,” said West View resident Melanie Zuber. “Just as a mother, I couldn’t even imagine the heartbreak the family is feeling.”
