PLOURIN-LÈS-MORLAIX, France — A bouquet has been placed along the Route de la Croix de Pierre in Plourin-lès-Morlaix following a fatal road accident that claimed the lives of two young residents of the commune.
The crash happened early Saturday morning, October 3, near the Kerroué locality, southeast of Morlaix. Emergency services were called at about 5:14 a.m. after a car left the road and ended up in a field. Reports say the vehicle rolled several times.
Two Young Victims
Three people were travelling in the vehicle. The driver, a 21-year-old man, survived but was taken to hospital for treatment.
The other two occupants, an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, died at the scene. The pair were reportedly a couple and both lived in Plourin-lès-Morlaix. Their deaths have left relatives, friends and residents mourning.
Investigation Underway
The precise circumstances of the crash remain under investigation. Authorities are seeking to establish why the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Alcohol and drug screening was carried out as part of the investigation, with results not yet publicly established in the reports reviewed. It is therefore too early to draw conclusions about what caused the crash.
A Community Remembers
The bouquet placed on the Route de la Croix de Pierre has become a quiet tribute to the two young lives lost. Mayor Guy Pennec expressed the community’s deep emotion over the deaths, describing the loss of such young residents as particularly painful.
The tragedy has renewed attention on road safety and the importance of establishing the facts before assigning responsibility. Authorities are expected to provide further information as the investigation progresses.
