South Finistère Road Accident: Two Airlifted After Serious Head-On Collision

South Finistère – Emergency services mounted a major response Wednesday afternoon after a violent head-on crash on the D785, between Plomeur and Penmarch in South Finistère.

The collision occurred shortly after 4 p.m. near the locality of Maner Goff, close to the Men Lann Du restaurant. Two cars were involved, and the impact was described by first responders as severe.

A 45-year-old man, critically injured but conscious, was treated at the scene before being airlifted by helicopter to Cavale Blanche Hospital in Brest. A 43-year-old woman, also seriously hurt, was transported to the same hospital by air.

A third victim, a 25-year-old man, sustained less severe injuries and was taken by ambulance to Quimper Hospital.

The rescue operation was significant, involving two helicopters, three ambulances, and an extrication unit to free the injured and provide rapid transport to medical facilities.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the collision, and local gendarmes are conducting an investigation. The section of the D785 was temporarily closed to traffic during the rescue and cleanup, causing delays in the area.
