Train Collides with Amazon Truck in Union City; No Injuries Reported, Cleanup Underway

UNION CITY, Ga. — A collision between a train and an Amazon truck early Wednesday morning brought traffic to a temporary standstill in Union City, but officials have confirmed that no one was injured in the crash.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Roosevelt Highway and Goodson Road, according to Union City police. The Amazon truck, which appeared to be empty at the time of the crash, sustained visible damage, and debris marked with the company’s logo was scattered near the tracks.

Tom Lee, an employee of Mask Rolloff Dumpster and Container Service, told FOX 5 Atlanta that he was called to assist with the cleanup. “They told me nobody was hurt, thank God,” Lee said, adding that the scene would likely be cleared by lunchtime.

While the cause of the collision remains under investigation, officials emphasized that train crossings remain a persistent safety concern in parts of metro Atlanta. According to the Federal Railroad Administration, Georgia ranks among the top states for highway-rail grade crossing incidents each year.

Police urged drivers to remain cautious near train tracks and to obey warning signals at all times as cleanup efforts concluded by midday.
