Los Angeles, Calif. — The electronic dance music (EDM) world is mourning the sudden loss of Devin Lezama, the founder and CEO of EDM Maniac, who died on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the age of 37. His passing, announced by his team in an emotional statement, has left an unfillable void in both the global dance music community and among those who admired his vision and drive.
Lezama, born in April 1988, was a proud New Yorker with roots in Trinidad. A graduate of the New York School of Visual Arts, he first worked as part of the Ground Control team — the frontline crew ensuring safety and positivity at major festivals. That experience, paired with his passion for storytelling and connection, inspired him to launch EDM Maniac, a brand that evolved from a niche dance music blog into a multifaceted platform with travel, merchandise, and even a print magazine dedicated to rave culture.
“Devin had this rare ability to see the beauty in both the music and the people behind it,” said close friend and colleague Jasmine Ortiz. “He built EDM Maniac not for fame or profit, but to create a family — a space where ravers could feel seen, safe, and celebrated.”
Under Lezama’s leadership, EDM Maniac became known for championing the ethos of “peace, love, unity, and respect” while amplifying emerging voices in the EDM scene. He believed in pushing the culture forward with integrity — an approach that earned him respect across the industry. He also quietly worked with his parents on charity initiatives in Trinidad, underscoring his commitment to giving back.
While the exact cause of death remains unknown, tributes have poured in from artists, festival organizers, and fans worldwide. “Devin was a true visionary,” wrote Insomniac founder Pasquale Rotella on Instagram. “His passion for dance music was contagious, and he brought people together in a way that few can.”
Lezama’s favorite artist, Avicii, served as a personal source of inspiration. In the EDM Maniac statement, his team quoted the late Swedish DJ’s iconic lyric: “One day you’ll leave this world behind, so live a life you will remember.” It’s a sentiment that reflects Lezama’s journey — turning a dream into a global movement.
Despite the heartbreak, EDM Maniac has vowed to continue its mission in Lezama’s honor. “Everything the Maniac universe stands for — peace, love, unity, respect, curiosity, innovation — will carry on in Devin’s name,” the team said.
Devin Lezama is remembered as more than just a media entrepreneur; he was a unifier and a dreamer who helped shape the landscape of modern EDM culture. His influence will echo on dance floors around the world, wherever music lovers gather to celebrate life.
