LORAIN, OHIO — Devin Nicole Jarvis, a devoted mother, wife, and physical therapist known for her compassion and advocacy, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 18, 2025, surrounded by the care of New Life Hospice. She was 36.
Born on October 13, 1988, in Painesville, Ohio, Devin grew up with a strong sense of service and determination. A 2007 graduate of North Ridgeville High School, she went on to attend the University of Toledo, earning her bachelor’s degree in 2010. She later completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Cleveland State University in 2013—a milestone that set the course for her impactful career in healthcare.
Devin dedicated her professional life to helping others heal, working with Sprenger Nursing Homes as a physical therapist. She found her niche and purpose in working with individuals living with Parkinson’s Disease. Through specialized training and tireless advocacy, she became a certified expert and educator in Parkinson’s therapy. In recognition of her commitment, she was named the Parkinson’s Foundation Great Lakes Hero in 2020—an honor that reflected both her clinical excellence and personal compassion.
Even as she faced her own health challenges, Devin remained an open and courageous voice, sharing her cancer journey with honesty in the hopes of encouraging others navigating similar paths. Her vulnerability and strength touched not only those who knew her, but many more who followed her story from afar.
Above all else, Devin’s heart was anchored in her family. Her husband, Ryan, and their sons, Brody and Baylor, were her greatest joys. She cherished their time together—whether camping under the stars, cheering on the Cleveland Browns, or simply being present in everyday moments. Her life was rich in love, laughter, and purpose.
Devin is survived by her husband of 12 years, Ryan Jarvis, and their sons, Brody and Baylor. She also leaves behind her mother, Lisa (Brian Baraga), and father, Jeffrey (Sadie Theisler) Ballard; siblings Brendan (Kristina) Ballard, Cody (Daphne) Cutter, Jacob Cutter, and Mackenzie (A.J.) Ballard; half-sisters Lauren and Leigh; stepmother Lisa Ballard; sister-in-law Courtney (Ryan) Rua; parents-in-law Randy and Linda Jarvis; grandparents Frank and Margie Peto, and Sherry Ballard; grandmother-in-law Dolores Cole; grandfather-in-law Gary Jarvis; along with extended family, friends, colleagues, and patients whose lives she impacted.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road in Amherst. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday, July 25, at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery and a luncheon at the Amherst Eagles.
