Columbus – The C olumbus community is grieving the loss of 24-year-old TikTok creator Marquay Collins, a Shaw High School graduate whose sudden death has sent shockwaves through both local circles and his massive online following. Collins—known to millions as “MarquayTheGoat”—died Wednesday morning, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.
Authorities say Collins was recently involved in a car accident in Atlanta and was treated and released the same day. In the days that followed, he reportedly complained to his brother of persistent headaches, shortness of breath, and pain in his neck, shoulders, and spine. The cause of death remains undetermined, and an autopsy will be conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Collins graduated from Shaw High School in 2019 and rose to prominence on TikTok, amassing more than seven million followers drawn to his humor, relatability, and upbeat personality. His rapid rise reflected a broader trend of young creators using platforms like TikTok to build careers and communities far beyond their hometowns.
Local residents described Collins as a bright, ambitious young man whose success inspired others. “He always made people laugh—both online and in person,” one former classmate shared. “Seeing someone from Columbus reach millions meant a lot to all of us.”
As family members, fans, and friends share tributes, community leaders emphasize the importance of waiting for verified medical findings. The investigation continues as the city mourns a young life that left a significant mark both locally and online.
