Celebrating the Life of Anna Faith Servidio: University of Delaware Mourns Student

The communities of Delaware and Connecticut are mourning the loss of Anna Faith Servidio, a 20-year-old University of Delaware student whose vibrant personality, love of learning, and devotion to others left a mark far beyond her years. Anna passed away on Sunday, August 17, surrounded in memory by family and friends who cherished her.

Born to Jane Carriera Servidio and Stephen Patrick Servidio of Mystic, CT, Anna displayed her sharp intelligence and curiosity from a young age—famously memorizing all the U.S. presidents in first grade. She attended North Stonington Elementary and Wheeler Middle School before moving on to Fitch High School in Groton. There, she flourished not only academically but also in athletics, serving as co-captain for both the girls’ tennis and field hockey teams. Her leadership helped guide the Falcons to an Eastern Connecticut Conference championship.

A Passion for Innovation and Adventure

Anna’s curiosity extended well beyond the classroom. She joined the Aluminum Falcons robotics team, developing skills in fabrication and engineering that helped her team qualify for the world competition in Houston during her senior year. That same drive for exploration carried into her college years.

Enrolling in the University of Delaware’s Honors College in 2022, Anna immersed herself in every opportunity. She proudly joined the candlelight welcome ceremony on the campus green—front row, selfie with the university president in hand—capturing the essence of her bold and joyful spirit.

Her passion for travel led her to join the Student Traveling Club, where she embarked on a week-long adventure across five national parks. That trip sparked a lifelong dream to see every national park in the country. She was also an active sailor, competing with the UD Club Sailing Team after years of experience at the Groton Long Point Yacht Club, where she later became an instructor.

Equally important to Anna was her advocacy for the environment. She contributed to the Students for the Environment Club and Epsilon Eta, an academic fraternity focused on environmental sustainability.

Family, Friends, and Lasting Legacy

Anna is survived by her loving parents, Jane and Stephen, her sister Sarah, her grandparents Karen and Jerry Carriera, her boyfriend John Fulkerson of McLean, VA, and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Her life was one defined by compassion, joy, and the determination to live fully.

A calling hour will be held Friday, August 22, from 4–7 p.m. at Mystic Funeral Home in Mystic, CT. A funeral mass will follow on Saturday, August 23, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, Mystic. Private burial will be held for the family.

In remembrance, the Servidio family asks that donations be made to Sean’s House, 136 W. Main St, Newark, DE 19711, a cause dedicated to supporting mental health among young people.

Anna’s legacy lives on not only in the hearts of her loved ones but also in the countless lives she inspired through her curiosity, courage, and kindness.
