Authorities in Zanzibar are continuing to investigate the death of social media influencer Ashlee Jenae, who was found unconscious at a luxury resort earlier this month.
Jenae, whose legal name was Ashly Robinson, was staying at the upscale Zuri Zanzibar when the incident occurred. According to regional police commander Benedict Mapujira, she had been involved in a heated argument with her fiancé, Joe McCann, shortly before being discovered unresponsive in her villa.
Hotel staff reportedly intervened during the dispute and separated the couple into different rooms, later notifying authorities. Jenae was subsequently rushed to a medical facility, where she died the following day.
Officials have cautioned against speculation, emphasizing that the cause of death has not yet been determined. While early reports referenced suicide as a possibility, no official ruling has been issued. “The matter remains under active investigation,” police confirmed, noting that multiple factors—including the earlier dispute—are being reviewed.
