The Fort Worth community is mourning the devastating loss of Corbin Cox, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend whose life was tragically cut short alongside her unborn baby. Corbin, who was seven months pregnant, passed away unexpectedly last week, leaving her family and friends in profound grief.
Known for her sharp wit, vibrant personality, and deep compassion, Corbin worked at Big Laugh Comedy Club in Fort Worth, where her humor and warmth made her a cherished presence. Family and friends describe her as a “beautiful soul” who brought laughter to every room she entered and who approached motherhood with unwavering love and patience.
Her sister, Madi Cox, shared a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, recalling Corbin’s “dark humor,” her calm patience as a mom, and her ability to find joy in every moment. “You always found a way to make everyone laugh,” she wrote. “I keep wishing this was just one of your jokes and you’d pop up saying, ‘Ha! Got you!’”
Corbin was also remembered by her father, Gaylon Cox, who wrote, “My daughter Corbin passed away Friday. I don’t have the words yet. She was my Little Corbin and sometimes a Corbzilla. I miss her so much.”
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help the family cover funeral and memorial costs associated with the tragedy. Organizers say the community’s outpouring of support—through donations, messages, and shared memories—has been overwhelming, a testament to the number of lives Corbin touched.
Residents of Fort Worth and colleagues from the comedy scene have taken to social media to express condolences, sharing photos, anecdotes, and memories of Corbin’s infectious laugh and generous spirit. “She had the kind of presence that could change your whole mood,” one coworker said.
Tragic losses like this have prompted renewed conversations in North Texas about the need for stronger community mental-health and bereavement resources, especially for families coping with sudden loss.
Corbin is survived by her young son, Greyson, her parents, siblings, and a close-knit circle of loved ones who describe her as “irreplaceable.”
Though her time was heartbreakingly brief, Corbin’s legacy of laughter, love, and resilience will live on through those who knew her—and through the countless moments of joy she gave so freely.
