Kenny Dixon Dies in Tennessee Car Crash: Kane Brown Mourn the Loss of Longtime Drummer

The country music world is mourning the loss of Kenny Dixon, the for multi-platinum artist Kane Brown, who tragically died early Saturday, October 12, following a one-car accident in Christiana, Tennessee. He was a beloved fixture of Brown’s band and an integral part of the artist’s rise to national fame.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) officials, the crash occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Interstate 24 East, approximately 40 miles southeast of Nashville. Dixon was reportedly driving a 2016 Kia Rio LX when the vehicle left the roadway near mile marker 88 and struck a tree after traveling about 100 yards off the right shoulder. Authorities cited speed as a contributing factor but confirmed that neither drugs nor alcohol were involved. Dixon was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

In a statement released shortly after the crash, Kane Brown’s team shared their heartbreak:

“It is with profound sadness and disbelief that we confirm we lost our drummer Kenny this weekend in a tragic car accident. Kenny was a member of our family from the very beginning, and our hearts are with his fiancée Sarah, his son, and everyone who knew and loved him. He was truly one of the greatest and kindest people on and off stage we’ve ever known.”

Dixon, a native of Georgia, joined Brown in the early days of his career, helping shape the live sound that propelled the country star to sold-out arenas and award-winning success. Fans and industry peers have flooded social media with tributes, describing Dixon as not just a talented musician but also a humble and devoted family man.

Road safety advocates in Tennessee note that single-vehicle crashes like Dixon’s remain among the most common causes of highway fatalities, often linked to high speeds on rural stretches of interstate.

As the country music community gathers in grief, Kane Brown and his band have paused upcoming performances to honor Dixon’s memory. A private service for friends and family is expected in Tennessee.

Kenny Dixon’s passing leaves a deep void in both music and the lives of those who loved him—a reminder of how fleeting even the brightest rhythms can be.
