Islamabad — Sana Yousaf, a rising TikTok star from Upper Chitral, was shot and killed in her Islamabad home on Monday, The same day she celebrated her birthday. She was 17.
Born in Upper Chitral, Sana had gained popularity on TikTok for her relatable content and warm personality. She was quickly becoming a symbol of empowerment for young women from remote and conservative regions. Her presence online gave many a sense of hope, connection, and self-expression.
According to police, the incident took place in Sector G-13/1, where Sana had been residing. Early reports indicated that unknown assailants entered her home and opened fire before fleeing the scene. However, authorities later confirmed that the gunman was allegedly a cousin who had been visiting her. Sana was struck by two bullets and died at the scene.
The Sumbal police have launched a formal investigation, and forensic teams were dispatched to collect evidence from the residence. While a motive has not yet been confirmed, officials are continuing to question witnesses and examine surveillance footage.
