LOS ANGELES — Scott Bryce, the Emmy-nominated actor best known for his memorable performances in the long-running daytime drama As the World Turns, has died following a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 68.
The news was confirmed on July 12 by his son, Jackson Bryce, who announced his father’s passing in an emotional Instagram tribute honoring both his professional achievements and his devotion as a parent.
According to Jackson Bryce, Scott Bryce died after complications from stage III esophageal cancer, which later metastasized to the brain.
“This evening, my father lost his long-fought battle with cancer,” Jackson wrote. “What began as stage three esophageal cancer eventually spread and became brain tumors that took his life away from him.”
A Determined Fight Marked by Courage and Optimism
In his heartfelt tribute, Jackson described his father’s resilience throughout months of treatment, recalling the remarkable determination with which he faced every stage of his illness.
Bryce underwent radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy, continuing to fight despite increasingly difficult health challenges.
“Through radiation, chemo and immunotherapy, and every moment of pain, I watched my dad face it all with pride and courage, and an unshakable belief that somehow, everything would work out and he would win.”

Despite struggling with brain tumors, blurred vision, and impaired speech, Scott Bryce remained hopeful.
“Even just a week before he passed, while battling brain tumors, slurred speech and blurry vision, he looked me in the eyes as clear as he could and told me he still believed he had a chance—and that he was willing to fight as hard as it took.”
His son described witnessing “the hardest and most honorable fight” he had ever seen.
