Sgt. Lucas Kinblom, Menomonie, Wis: a Dedicated Law Enforcement Leader Passed Away

MENOMONIE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin–Stout Polytechnic community is mourning the unexpected off-duty death of Sergeant Lucas Kinblom, a respected law enforcement officer whose service, leadership, and commitment to public safety left a lasting impact on colleagues, students, and the broader campus community.

The UW–Stout Police Department announced Kinblom’s passing and expressed condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Department officials have asked the public to respect the privacy of those closest to him as arrangements are being finalized.

Kinblom joined the UW–Stout Police Department on June 1, 2020, bringing with him a strong foundation in criminal justice and law enforcement. He earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Chippewa Valley Technical College and successfully completed the institution’s 720-hour Wisconsin Law Enforcement Academy program.

Throughout his career at UW–Stout, Kinblom distinguished himself through service in several critical roles, including Field Training Officer, Taser and general instructor, Narcotics Detective, and Patrol Officer. Colleagues recognized him for his professionalism, dedication to training future officers, and unwavering commitment to campus safety.

His leadership and contributions were recently acknowledged when he was promoted from Police Officer I to Sergeant on May 17, 2026, a milestone that reflected the trust and respect he had earned within the department.

As news of his passing spreads, members of the university community continue to share memories of a public servant whose work extended beyond law enforcement to mentorship, service, and community engagement.

Memorial contributions may be temporarily directed to Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel in Altoona. Additional updates regarding services and memorial arrangements are expected to be shared by the UW–Stout Police Department through its official communications channels.

Sergeant Lucas Kinblom’s legacy will be remembered through the lives he touched, the officers he helped train, and the enduring commitment to service that defined his career.
