Fitness Community Mourns Stephanie Buttermore, Influencer and Cancer Researcher, at 36
The global fitness and science communities are mourning the loss of Stephanie Buttermore, a widely respected fitness educator and cancer researcher who died at the age of 36. News of her passing was shared on March 6 through a statement posted to Instagram by the team of her fiancé, fitness expert Jeff Nippard.
“It is with profound sorrow that we share the sudden passing of Jeff’s fiancée and partner of ten years, Stephanie,” the statement read, describing her as someone known for her warmth, compassion, and dedication to scientific research. Her cause of death has not been publicly disclosed, and Nippard’s team asked the public to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.
Buttermore built a large following through her science-based approach to fitness and nutrition. She had more than 525,000 followers on Instagram and over one million subscribers on YouTube, where she shared educational content focused on health, body positivity, and intuitive eating.
Beyond social media, Buttermore was also an accomplished academic. She earned a Ph.D. in pathology and cell biology and conducted research related to the molecular mechanisms behind Ovarian Cancer. According to information shared on her channel, her work explored potential markers that could help improve early detection of the disease—an area widely recognized by medical experts as critical because ovarian cancer is often diagnosed in later stages.
In recent years, Buttermore also spoke openly about her mental health. In May 2024, she stepped away from content creation, explaining that anxiety had become “crippling.” After taking time away from social media, she later shared that her mental health had improved significantly.
Her relationship with Nippard, which began nearly a decade ago after an online message sparked a friendship, was well known among fans. The couple announced their engagement in 2022 and frequently appeared together in fitness and educational content.
Tributes quickly spread across social media as followers expressed shock and sadness. “I have followed Stephanie for years—what a beautiful soul,” one supporter wrote, while others shared messages of support for Nippard.
For many followers, Buttermore’s legacy lies in the rare balance she achieved between rigorous scientific knowledge and accessible fitness education—helping people better understand their bodies, nutrition, and health through evidence-based guidance.
