Branden Banga: Regina Community Mourns Journeyman Lineman Died in an Accident -GoFundMe

The Regina community is mourning the loss of Branden Banga, a journeyman lineman with Hundseth Power Line Construction, who died in a tragic accident on August 31. He was a lifelong resident of Regina, Saskatchewan, and is survived by his wife, Jessie, and their three young children—Brielle, Jaxton, and Beckum.

For many, Banga was more than a colleague, neighbor, or friend. Known for his infectious laugh, his willingness to help others, and his love for simple pleasures—from country music and camping to evenings around a bonfire—he left a mark on everyone he met. “What I would do for one more ice fish, beer or smoke with you,” wrote close friend Damon Tomaschefski in a heartfelt tribute shared online. “Only the good die young, man. I’ll never forget the memories we’ve made together, good and bad.”

Beyond his personal passions, Banga took great pride in his work as a lineman, a profession that requires resilience, skill, and commitment. Friends say he embodied all three. “He always went above and beyond in any task he took on,” wrote family friend Heidi Lang, who has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support Jessie and the children.

The fundraiser has been set up to help cover funeral expenses and provide ongoing support as the family navigates an unthinkable loss. In her appeal, Lang emphasized the qualities that made Banga so deeply loved: his loyalty, his laughter, and his ability to make life feel “a little lighter” after every conversation.

Communities across Saskatchewan, particularly in Regina and nearby Balgonie, have already begun showing their support. The tragedy also highlights the broader risks faced by those working in power line construction, a field where safety is paramount yet dangers persist.

As tributes continue to pour in, the legacy of Branden Banga is being defined not by the accident that claimed his life, but by the kindness, joy, and sense of belonging he brought to others. His memory now lives on through his family, friends, and the countless moments of laughter and connection he gave so freely.

Those wishing to support the Banga family can contribute or share the GoFundMe page established in his honor.
