CLOVIS, Calif. — Authorities have identified the woman killed in a tragic pedestrian collision Tuesday night as 55-year-old Tina Taylor, a longtime Clovis resident.
According to the Clovis Police Department, officers were called to the scene around 9:30 p.m. after reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian on Clovis Avenue, just south of Griffith Way. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency responders’ efforts.
Investigators say Taylor had been crossing the road eastbound when she was hit by a northbound vehicle. Police confirmed the driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
The fatal accident has prompted renewed calls for safety awareness in the area, particularly along poorly lit roads where pedestrian visibility is low. Clovis Police urged drivers to stay alert during nighttime travel and reminded pedestrians to wear reflective clothing or carry lights when walking after dark.
No further details about the investigation have been released. Taylor’s death marks another sobering reminder of the need for vigilance and care on Central Valley roads.
