Traffic was heavily disrupted on the RN154 near Louviers (Eure) on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, following two separate accidents, including a hazardous materials incident involving a GPL (liquefied petroleum gas) tanker.
❗ Major Accident Involving Hazardous Materials
At around 4:00 PM, a heavy goods vehicle transporting GPL crashed into the central reservation of the RN154 at Pinterville, in the direction from Val-de-Reuil to Évreux. The impact damaged the tanker, prompting an emergency response to contain any potential risk.
Specialized teams were deployed for site protection, cleanup, and traffic management, while the prefecture ordered a full closure of the RN154 in both directions as a precaution. A total of 36 emergency responders, including firefighters and police, were on the scene.
🚗 Secondary Collision and Heavy Traffic
Shortly after the first crash, a secondary accident occurred near Louviers, involving another HGV and a passenger vehicle. No serious injuries were reported, but the chain of incidents caused major traffic disruptions, with over 6 kilometers of congestion reported by Bison Futé.
📍 Detours and Traffic Management
Authorities urged motorists to avoid the sector and follow the marked detour routes:
- Vehicles traveling from the A154 (Évreux direction) toward Rouen were redirected via the Becdal interchange, using local roads.
- Drivers from the A13 heading toward the A154 continued their journey via the A13.
🕢 Gradual Reopening
By 7:20 PM, police reported that traffic was beginning to ease. Shortly before 8:00 PM, firefighters confirmed that the Évreux–Louviers lane had been reopened, as teams worked to remove the damaged truck and restore slow-flowing traffic.
