Arizona – Two Lake Havasu City residents died Saturday evening, September 12, 2026, after a high-speed boating accident on Lake Havasu in Arizona, according to authorities.
The victims were identified as Charles “Chip” Romer, 65, and Jennifer Luzzi, 59. The crash occurred at approximately 7:08 p.m. just north of Cattail Cove State Park on the Arizona side of the lake.
According to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Division of Boating Safety, a 2019 36-foot Douglas Marine boat was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck a large peninsula. The impact sent the vessel into the air before it landed upside down in a boat-in campsite north of the collision point.
Boating safety deputies responding to the scene found Romer and Luzzi unresponsive near the overturned vessel. Emergency personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department and Lake Havasu City Fire Department assisted with life-saving efforts.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities have not publicly identified a specific contributing factor. Details concerning the vessel’s speed, possible impairment or other circumstances remain subject to the investigation.
