Through tireless dedication, Nathan built the program into one of the most respected in the country. In 2016, under his leadership, the LSHS percussion ensemble earned a coveted invitation to perform at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC)—the highest national recognition for high school percussion.

“That’s the level of talent, dedication, and love Nathan brought,” said Tim Golden, Director of Bands at LSHS. “But Nathan as a person meant even more to me. He poured into his students and treated them like family.”

Former students and parents have echoed these sentiments, recalling Nathan’s patient, compassionate nature. “As a former high school percussionist, I always hoped my children would have a teacher who could inspire them like mine did,” one parent shared. “With Nathan, we found that and more.”

Nathan’s impact stretched beyond music. He was a loving husband to Morgan, his wife of nearly 14 years, and an adoring father to Ryan, born in 2022. Becoming a father was one of Nathan’s proudest moments. “Nathan, the love of my life, passed away suddenly last Thursday,” Morgan shared. “We are honoring his life at our home church. Please come if you are able.”
