OXNARD, CALIFORNIA — Two people were killed and five others were injured after a major multi-vehicle collision near Victoria Avenue and Doris Avenue in Oxnard on Friday afternoon, September 25, 2026. Emergency crews were called to the scene at about 3:55 p.m., according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
Two killed, five injured
Fire officials reported seven patients in connection with the crash. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene. Four others were taken to local hospitals, including one person with serious injuries, one with moderate injuries and two with minor injuries. Another person received treatment at the scene and declined hospital transport.
Aerial footage showed extensive wreckage across the roadway. A large pickup truck was found overturned on its side and on top of another damaged vehicle, while several other cars sustained major damage.
Investigation underway
The crash prompted a major emergency response and closed Victoria Avenue between Gonzales Road and Teal Club Road while crews treated patients, investigated the collision and cleared debris.
Early accounts have suggested that a pickup may have been traveling at a high rate of speed before the initial impact. That information remains part of the preliminary investigation and has not been established as the official cause.
The Oxnard Police Department is investigating the circumstances of the collision. Authorities had not immediately released the identities of the two people killed. Further details are expected as investigators establish the sequence of events.
