ATLANTA, GA — Marcus Bernard Hale, widely known by many as Marcus, Blake, Maestro Blake, or affectionately “Skyballer,” passed away on February 5, 2025, at the age of 47. A gifted actor, visionary entrepreneur, and cherished son, brother, and father, Marcus left behind a life defined by creativity, resilience, and authentic connection.

Born on August 10, 1977, in Atlanta, Georgia, Marcus grew up steeped in community, discipline, and ambition. A proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1995, he served as Drum Major of the acclaimed “Marching 100” band. Even then, his magnetic presence and rhythmic leadership foretold a future in the arts.

Marcus’s acting career included appearances in projects such as Roar (1997), Water Rats (1996), and Touch and Go (1980). Though not always under the brightest spotlight, his performances were marked by a subtle emotional clarity and presence that resonated with audiences and peers alike. His dedication to craft made him a respected figure in the entertainment community.

Outside the screen, Marcus evolved into a dynamic leader in the cryptocurrency and tech sectors. As Chief Executive Officer of a blockchain-focused firm, he brought his passion for innovation into emerging industries. A graduate of both Everest Institute and Atlanta Technical College, Marcus pursued knowledge relentlessly, blending entrepreneurial boldness with strategic insight. He was known not only for his success, but for empowering others to believe in their potential.

On August 24, 2024, Marcus’s life came to an unexpected end during a tragic incident off the Norwegian coast. While swimming near his yacht, Marcus was fatally injured in a rare orca encounter—a story that quickly went viral, sparking widespread debate and mourning. Though unverified claims spread online, what remains unquestionable is the profound grief felt by those who knew and admired him.

Marcus is survived by his beloved son, Marcus Hale Jr.; his mother, Jackie Billingslea; his stepfather, Greg Billingslea; and his siblings Vincent, Kevin, Stacy, Candace, Patrice, and Crystal. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Hale, and grandparents Dorothy and James Hale. The values they instilled—strength, compassion, and faith—remained at the heart of Marcus’s character throughout his life.
