Brian Thomas Bounds of Fairbury, IL, Dies at 60

FAIRBURY, IL — Brian Thomas Bounds, a lifelong resident of Fairbury and a deeply rooted figure in the agricultural community, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was 60 years old.

Born on April 14, 1965, in Fairbury to Thomas L. and Jane Rieger Bounds, Brian embodied the spirit of rural Illinois — hard-working, grounded, and community-oriented. He graduated from Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School in 1983 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois in 1987. That same work ethic and dedication guided his life, not only in his career but also in the way he nurtured his family and friendships.

On August 3, 1991, Brian married Rebecca Weber. Their partnership of over three decades was filled with laughter, shared dreams, and a love that carried them through life’s seasons. Rebecca survives him in Fairbury, along with their children: Trent (Kylie) Bounds of Fairbury; Addison (Chloe) Bounds of Denver, CO; and Maddie Bounds of Nashville, TN. Brian was also a proud grandfather to four beloved grandchildren — Trip, Vivienne, Beau, and Callahan — who brought him endless joy.

Brian began his professional journey in agriculture in 1991, working as a District Sales Manager for Agrigold Seed while helping part-time on his family farm. In 1996, he transitioned to farming full-time alongside his father, continuing a proud five-generation farming legacy in Livingston County. He loved the land, understood the rhythm of the seasons, and saw farming not just as work, but as stewardship — a way of life passed down through generations.

Beyond the fields, Brian found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman, especially fond of trips to Canada with his sons and lifelong friends. He cherished time spent poolside with family, Hefeweizen in hand, enjoying laughter, conversation, and the company of those he loved most.

He is also survived by his parents, Tom and Jane Bounds; his brother, Clint (Tanya) Bounds of Bloomington, IL; and his sister, Jennifer (David) Komor of St. Louis, MO.

The family will hold a private gathering at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Fairbury on Saturday, June 7. A public Celebration of Life will follow on Sunday, June 8, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Emancipation Brewing Company in Fairbury — a fitting place to honor a man who valued good company, community, and storytelling.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society, causes close to Brian’s heart.

Brian Bounds will be remembered not only for his contributions to agriculture but for the warmth, wisdom, and integrity with which he lived. His legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, and the rich soil of the land he loved.
