LOUISVILLE, Kentucky — Sam Keller, a dedicated athlete, passed away in July 2026. He was in his early 20s. Born and raised with strong ties to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area,
Sam attended the prestigious Georgetown Preparatory School in North Bethesda, Maryland, where he excelled academically and athletically.
He later became a standout member of the University of Louisville Rugby team, also bringing experience as a former American football player.
Teammates and friends remember Sam as “a man among boys” with the biggest heart, full of love, kindness, and genuine character. His infectious smile, unwavering support for others, and humble approach left a lasting legacy on and off the field. Whether on the rugby pitch or in everyday life, Sam embodied the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship that defines Louisville Rugby.
“Today, the Louisville Rugby family mourns the loss of one of our own,” the team shared. “Sam was more than a teammate—he was a friend whose kindness, humility, and genuine character left a lasting impact… Though gone far too soon, Sam’s legacy will forever remain a part of Louisville Rugby. He is survived by his loving family, friends, teammates, and the extended Louisville Rugby community.
