He was 74 and had been battling kidney-related complications, according to his manager, who confirmed the news to India Today.

The veteran performer, best remembered for his iconic role as Indravadan Sarabhai in the cult sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, had reportedly undergone a kidney transplant earlier this year. His funeral is scheduled for Sunday in Mumbai.
