Stockdale, TX – The community of Stockdale and surrounding areas are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jason Miller, longtime EMS Director for Medina County ESD 4. Chief Miller passed away on May 19, 2025. His death, confirmed to be by suicide, has left friends, family, and fellow first responders devastated and reflecting on his remarkable legacy of service, compassion, and leadership.
Chief Miller began his career in emergency medical services on April 20, 1989. Over the next 36 years, he became a guiding force in the region’s EMS community, known not only for his steady leadership but for his unwavering commitment to those he served. As EMS Director, he was a mentor, advocate, and protector—often running toward danger to safeguard the lives of others.
“Jason helped mold my career when I started working for Methodist Hospital as a baby medic,” said longtime colleague Robbie Guerra. “Words can’t express the loss that will be felt in our hearts. R.I.P, brother.”
Known for his integrity and compassion, Jason Miller’s impact stretched far beyond emergency scenes. To many, he was a quiet hero, the person you wanted beside you on your worst day. He stood between chaos and calm, choosing others’ safety over his own peace, time and again.
Services to honor Chief Miller’s life will be held on May 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Bible Church, 390 FM 1346 S, La Vernia, TX, with interment to follow at Kosciusko Cemetery. His family, friends, and fellow responders will gather not only to grieve but to celebrate a life defined by service and sacrifice.
As the community faces the painful reality of his absence, it also carries forward his legacy—a legacy built on courage, loyalty, and love for others.
