Cyclist Injured in London Bridge Crash Involving Bus; Police Urge Public to Avoid Area

Cyclist Hospitalised After Serious Collision with Bus on London Bridge

A woman has been taken to hospital following a serious road traffic collision between a bus and a cyclist on London Bridge during the early morning commute on Tuesday, June 11.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:00am and has prompted a major emergency response. City of London Police and London Ambulance Service were dispatched to the scene, where the woman cyclist was treated for a significant leg injury before being transported as a priority to a major trauma centre.

City of London Police confirmed that the bridge has been closed to northbound traffic while investigations continue. Officers have urged the public to avoid the area and plan alternative routes.

“City of London Police officers are attending the scene of a road traffic collision involving a bus and a cyclist at 8am on London Bridge,” said Chief Inspector James Minney. “The bridge is currently closed to northbound traffic and we’d ask people to avoid the area. A woman was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service. Investigations are ongoing.”

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 8:29am today (11 June) to reports of a road traffic collision on London Bridge, SE1. We sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and a clinical team manager to the scene. Our first paramedics arrived on scene in approximately five minutes. We treated a woman for a leg injury and took her to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

London Bridge, one of the busiest crossings in the capital, was quickly cordoned off as emergency responders worked on site. The closure caused significant disruption to commuter traffic, and Transport for London (TfL) issued warnings about potential delays in the surrounding area.

City of London Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward to assist with ongoing investigations.

As of this afternoon, the woman’s condition remains unknown, but authorities have confirmed she is receiving specialist care. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
