Jason Klotz, a former Texas high school and college basketball standout, has died at the age of 44.

News of Klotz’s death was shared publicly by people who knew him, including former basketball acquaintances who paid tribute to him on social media. One tribute described Klotz as “a heck of a player” and a good friend who brought enjoyment to those around him.

Klotz made his name in Texas basketball during his high school years, where he helped lead Klein Forest High School to the state championship game.

His basketball career continued at the University of Texas, where he became part of three consecutive teams that reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

Klotz’s basketball legacy includes his role in helping Klein Forest reach the Texas state championship game and his contribution to three straight Sweet 16 teams at Texas.
